You often hear that Lebanon is home to 18 different religious communities. But are you able to tell which ones?

We tried and couldn’t get past 12.

So we did some research and here are our findings.

The Lebanese Constitution officially acknowledges the following religious sects: Sunnis, Shia, Alawites, Ismaili, Druzes; Maronites, Greek Orthodox, Melkite Greek Catholics, Armenian Orthodox, Armenian Catholics, Syriac Orthodox, Syriac Catholics, Assyrians , Chaldeans, Copts, Protestants and Latin Catholics; and the Jewish sect .

In the recent years, small communities of hindus and buddhists emerged, mainly migrant workers.

Thing is, no one knows for sure how many people belong in each community, as the last census dates back to ..1932. —
