Did you know that French General Charles de Gaulle lived in this house, located Mar Elias St in Beirut, with his family, between 1929 and 1931?
He was then heading the 2nd and 3rd Levant Troupes of Beirut, and as such, coordinated information services between Levant territories.

He came a second time to Lebanon, during WWII, in 1941-1942: he worked on the partition and independence of Lebanon.
He signed in 1941 the Lyttleton-de Gaulle treaty which organized the Franco-British cooperation in the Levant.

The house is currently owned by the al Hoss family and has been vacant for some time.
