Did you know that it took 12 + attempts (not including the smaller ones) to end the 1975-1990 civil war?

While its start date – April 13, 1975 – is clear, its end date is a bit murkier: the Taif agreements of 1989 paved the way to the end of hostilities, though fighting, assassinations, and massacres continued throughout 1990.

Another staggering number is the amount Lebanese militias received in outside assistance: $30 billion – double the amount they managed to raise themselves and more than 10 times(!) the official GDP of the country in 1989!

Just as a reminder, it is estimated that 150,000 people died during the war, 300,000 were injured, 17,000 disappeared, and 1 million migrated.
