Music is always good for the soul, and even more so these days.

A lot of local and international initiatives are working on bringing local artists to your screen. It’s the perfect time to discover new talents and  rising stars, or to dive back into your classics!

1-Beirut Jam Sessions is organizing Insta live sessions every week  on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, check them out!

2-Sofar Sounds (a startup that organizes intimate concerts all over the world and that is very active in Beirut, for those of you who don’t know it) is putting its concerts online, and Sofar Sounds Beirut organizes take overs of their Insta account by artists, check them out!

3- Project Revolver : This Lebanese open platform is open to “anyone with a  peculiar interest in music, to share and consume music through lists, podcasts and videos.” They publish playlists and interviews about your favorite musicians, they even created an 8 hour playlist “to help you focus, relax, run, cook, do chores, think about your ex, think about yourself, touch yourself, anything really”

4- Multidisciplinary artist Nasri Sayegh started Radia Karantina on his Soundcloud , where he broadcasts “Music, images and tales from isolation”

5-The Lebanese National Oriental Orchestra uploaded a video of their rendition of B7ibbak ya Loubnan by the Rahbani brothers.

6-If you’re a fan of classical music and opera, most opera and music houses are broadcasting their shows for free:
The National Opera of Paris, , the Metropolitan Opera of New York  , The Berlin Philharmonie .
The FT made a list of their favorite 10 operas to watch when in confinement.

7-France TV  is also broadcasting a lot of concerts (classical, pop, jazz, etc.) for free.

8- For Jazz aficionados, the Montreux Jazz Festival uploaded 50 concerts for free.

MJ’s routine: I’m a big fan of discovering new music on Spotify. Their Discover Weekly playlist always introduces me to new music and new artists that become part of my favorite songs 🙂 And the highlights of these 2 past weeks were the Insta live sessions organized by Beirut Jam Sessions, they made my evenings sweeter.

Soraya’s routine: I like to start the day by listening to playlists of the 80-90s rock on Anghami (what can I say? 🙂 I like to support Lebanese brands).
And because I am currently confined with my family in Aix-En-Provence and things can easily get animated, I put on some playlists on Youtube that help me focus when I work. What works best for me is soft music without lyrics: classical or jazz.

Please share your music tips and routines with us, we will update the list on a regular basis.
